The Institute practices an interdisciplinary perspective on the design of information systems in both, research and teaching. This also engages sociological interests in work and occupations, organisation and technology, and in gender studies.
Current main areas of research are: methods of multidisciplinary systems design, design and development of information and multiagent systems, tangible computing, multimedial cooperative work environments (CSCW), interaction design and hypertextual knowledge design, design and use of electronic spaces for a variety of domains and actors - artistic production, architecture, and new media, information science theories and implications, psychosocial and societal aspects of ICT and digital media gender studies
