Privacy

What data does your website log? For quality assurance and security purposes and in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (f) DSGVO, we log the following information: (1) date and time of your visit, (2) URL, status, and size of the page you visited, (3) an IP address, which could be the one temporarily assigned to you by your internet service provider, or that of a proxy, VPN, private relay service, onion router, or any other intermediary you use to connect to the public internet, (4) if provided, URL of the referring page, and (5) name, version, and language of your browser. Our locally hosted logging facility retains this data for 90 days, then automatically deletes it. In addition, we feed anonymized data into a locally hosted web analytics tool to gain some limited insight into how people interact with our website. Our log and web analytics data is for in-house use only; we do not associate it with any other data, and we do not share it.

What cookies does your website set? None.

Where is your website hosted? All our web servers are located in Austria and are hosted on the TU Wien university network.

What about your newsletter? The signup form for our newsletter is hosted at Mailjet, an ISO 27001 certified and GDPR compliant mailing service. By signing up for our newsletter, you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to Mailjet for processing. If you don’t like that but still want to stay in touch, please subscribe to our locally hosted news feed and calendar feed, or regularly check our newsroom.

What about YouTube videos? Some (not many) of our pages embed videos hosted on TU Wien PR’s YouTube Channel (via youtube-nocookie.com). If you access or watch these videos, TU Wien PR and YouTube receive analytics and data that tell them that you… well, accessed or watched these videos.

Accessibility

Is your website accessible? Our website partially complies with level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. We are working on further improvements but currently have known weaknesses regarding color contrast of text, downloadable documents (PDF), and specific labels and ARIA roles in our navigational elements.

Whom can I contact? If you notice any barriers that prevent you from using our website, please let us know. Please send your suggestions, problem descriptions, and the affected URLs via email to communications@informatics.tuwien.ac.at.

How to enforce a complaint? If the response received from the contact above is not satisfactory, you may file a complaint with the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The FFG accepts complaints filed online (form in German) and will examine whether the complaint relates to violations of the Web Accessibility Act (WZG), particularly to a failure to comply with the accessibility requirements. If the complaint is justified, the FFG will recommend for further action to the legal entities concerned and propose measures designed to remedy the problem. Additional information (in German).
