Distributed and Parallel Systems

Distributed systems concentrate on all aspects of distributed, heterogeneous software systems, particularly their communication services and standards, and the ways they are integrated to form global information networks and systems.

The Internet, as the most familiar example of an information network of this type, is an important part of today’s information society. Architectures, technologies and platforms for the development of distributed systems are the crucial foundation on which the information society can continue to develop. In addition to the development of tools and methods, suitable engineering processes are essential to ensuring optimum use of the Internet. Internet engineering is a broad discipline, comprising aspects from mobile code to Internet security and electronic payment.
