Let’s have a look to Informatics in the future – to the year 2025

From October 12 to 14, 2015, the Faculty of Informatics at TU Wien will host the European Computer Science Summit. It is the first time that this major event will be held in Austria.

The Summit is organized by Informatics Europe, which is the association of computer science departments and research laboratories in Europe and neighbouring areas. It is designed as a meeting place for anyone interested in issues concerning research, education, and policy in computer science.

With its central topic “Informatics in the future – in the year 2025”, this year’s summit will focus on the developments in computer science in the upcoming decade.

The ECSS 2015 is co-chaired by Carlo Ghezzi, President of Informatics Europe, and Gerald Steinhardt, TU Wien. The program chairs are Hannes Werthner, TU Wien, and Frank van Harmelen, VU University Amsterdam.

On Monday, October 12, two pre-summit workshops will be held. One is for Deans, Department Chairs and Research Directors (workshop chair: Mehdi Jazayeri, University of Lugano). The content of the second workshop consists of experiences and practices in MOOCs (workshop chairs: Hilda Tellioglu und Uwe Egly, TU Wien).
